Humanitarian challenges meet student innovators

Six humanitarian organizations pitched their challenges to 40 students across nine universities and colleges during Oslo Innovation Week. The goal? Give the student inspriation for their thesises!

Punkt Oslo in collaboration with Salvation Army Norway, OsloMet, SEFiO and the Nobel Peace Center invited students, humanitarian organizations, experts. The event had participants from seven different countries, six humanitarian organizations that pitched their challenges and 40 students who were looking for inspiration and ideas for their master thesis as well as relevant networking opportunities.

The challenges span from Doctors without boarders challenge on "In these low-resource and high-pressure healthcare settings, what technical and human-centered solutions can help ensure proper hand hygiene and reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections?" to Salvation Army Norway challenge on "How can we achieve a more equal rental market, which also provides opportunities for drug addicts?".

The students represented different fields of studies from social sciences, to engineering, to journalism to product design. Experts from Innovation Norway, Cognite, VEND, SEFiO and Microsoft share their insights and experiences.

We thank all participants for an engaging afternoon and look forward to projects and thesises to come.
